  • How can i get light brown highlights in my dark brown to black hair with out going to the salon?

i want to get light brown highlights with out going to the salon. my hair color is dark brown to black. i wanted to use sun in but i heard that it's not good. what do you guys recommend??How can i get light brown highlights in my dark brown to black hair with out going to the salon?
It depends entirely on what color is already on your hair. If there is NO color on your hair you may be able to do it with a light ash color, but you may have to do a bleach and tone.

What is the most effective way for a hairstylist to let her clientelle know she has moved to another salon?

I am leasing a station at a nearby salon, but had to leave my current job so quickly that I didn't have time to tell any clients.

I have their names but no contact info, how can i let them know how to find me?What is the most effective way for a hairstylist to let her clientelle know she has moved to another salon?
    ask your local salon to put up a sign in front of the store ';we are proud to have so and so from so and so salon working here with us';

or better yet put up an ad in a local newspaperWhat is the most effective way for a hairstylist to let her clientelle know she has moved to another salon?
Since they live close to your last job you can search their names online in the White Pages, get their address, and send them a postcard...Word will get around.... You can also take out an ad in a local business type magazine.... Look in the grocery store for such publications. In the future get the email addresses of your customers and keep in contact w/ them that way.... maybe offer a special $2 discout couple times a year. Good luck.

How do I prepare my hair for the haircutters at the salon?

I have curly hair, and I'm not sure if I define my curls by diffuser or let it air dry. or shampoo/condition beforehand.

thanks. =)How do I prepare my hair for the haircutters at the salon?
Style it how you normally style it so they can have an idea how to cut and style your hair. How do I prepare my hair for the haircutters at the salon?

How to take off french tips without going to the nail salon?

i want 2 take my nails off but i dont wana go 2 the nail place.

so how would i take em offHow to take off french tips without going to the nail salon?
Soak them in nail polish remover and then slide a nail thingy (cannot think of name) under them to pop them off.How to take off french tips without going to the nail salon?
I tried soaking them in nail polish before but it didn't work for me. I usually end up biting the tips to break them off. Its the only thing that actually worked for me. It still made my nails suck for a month. I just stopped having them done.
Try sticking your teeth between the corner of your nails because those side usually seems to loosen up first most of the time after u had ur nails done for a few or more days or u can get a Knife or scissors between those lower corners of ur nails to get them off.

How much money would i need to start my own Hair Salon?

It depends on if you rent your space or buy it. You should consider using the money you have saved to buy a building for it, then use the equity to finance the business.

Salons in Orlando (student discount or affordable)?

Help- I just moved to Orlando and found out having my hair done will cost $200+! I need a root touch-up, cut/trim, and a couple low-lights. Can someone please recommend a few reputable salon options that won't break this graduate student's piggy bank?Salons in Orlando (student discount or affordable)?
Try looking for a Hair Cuttery or Trade Secret. I have worked for both companies. Not in Orlando, I am in Lakeland. But I know that they give all of their salons the same education and training and both are usually very affordable.

  • Ladies, what do you expect when you go to a beauty salon for a treatment?

this includes services, ambience, music. what has been your best experience ? thanks for youre answers in advance.Ladies, what do you expect when you go to a beauty salon for a treatment?
Firstly I expect the salon to be clean and fresh.I appreciate relaxing music and dimmed lighting.

I hate it , -with a treatment I had this week, -if the therapist starts taking telephone calls or starts tidying up or banging about during the periods of the treatment you are supposed to be relaxing. I have visited a few salons and the best one for service and value for money was a young girl who worked from home. Her treatments were relaxing and therapeutic.Ladies, what do you expect when you go to a beauty salon for a treatment?
ive been to a place called nails up during my holiday in thailand. it was really nice! the staff was friendly, equipped with high tech nailcare products and spa facillities etc.

the music was nice and relaxing (and so was the armchair) and they had a little table with mags so i could read while i had my toenails done.

IT WAS SOO AWESOME! if ever go to bangkok, go there. its in a shopping mall next to Marriot hotel, 2nd floor.
services: i don't want to be waiting for too long.

    ambience: idk what that means

music: something that appeals to people. i can't suggest a radio station b/c idk where you are.

best experience: when i get exactly what i ask for

Should I wash my hair before getting it dyed at the salon?

I haven't washed my hair in over a week and I'm getting it dyed today. Someone said don't wash it because the color will work beter if the hair is unwashed, but don't you think the hairdresser will get grossed out since my hair hasn't been washed in 8 days?Should I wash my hair before getting it dyed at the salon?
washing your hair could cause it to be a bit dry when you get it colored...the natural oils in your hair help to reduce the drying effects of the color

if your getting a permanent dye job it really doesn't matter if you've washed it or not, the after care is what will determine how vibrant and well your color holds

8 days w/o washing isn't really that gross...it's actually better for your hair because your natural sebum is the best moisturizer

we stylist do have to stick our hands in that so yeah that side of it is a bit icky but i'm sure she's seen worse and will wear glovesShould I wash my hair before getting it dyed at the salon?
You can wash it, it won't matter but DO NOT condition it, and use a shampoo, not a shampoo and conditioner and conditioner will stop colour sticking as well.

Also, the dyes at salons are very good, and shouldn't matter a huge amount anyway.

    Hope i helped :)
I'm a hair stylist, I would say it would be fine if it was a day or two but, over a week? Wash it. Remember our fingers have to go through that. :) Just make sure your hair is dry when you go into the salon.
well i wouldnt have waited 8 days but i honestly believe that unwashed hair colors better. why wash it now. you've waited this long. but i would have at least kept my schedule up until a couple of days prior to my app. happy coloring
yes wash it but the hairdresser will probaly wash it for you
DO NOT wash it. this is true, what you've heard...that the color stays longer and more vibrant.

and well...why havent you washed ur hair in 8 days? thats kinda gross. sorry.
you should definety wash it more then that. I would say yes wash it first.
    Agreed with 3sa. Just go. She's a salonist...what hasn't she seen?
hahahha call and ask the salon

What special offers would you like to see in your local salon?

I own a salon and just wanted to see what the publics view would be on what they would like in theyre salon or what special offers they wpuld be interested in.What special offers would you like to see in your local salon?
hey great question its nice you wanted the publics opinion.. I would like to see an offer such as get 4 treatments and get the 5th free..so you'll have a loyelty card and get a stamp for the 1st, 2nd etc treatment you get and then the 5th is free:) you could only speacilise this scheme for say only manicure, pedicures, facials and massages. You could even offer 10% discount to new customers. You could even speacilise this great scheme i had... for example you'll have details of clients and when its their birthday you send out a card with discounts and treats to make their day more special. Also you could offer free nail varnish with a manicure..theres loads hope this helps. What special offers would you like to see in your local salon?
As a long time salon patron, I'd like to see an occasional discount on hair services %26gt; $100. You can provide it on a monthly basis or during a holiday season or on a client's birthday.

A free mani or pedi with hair service over $100 or $200 or toss in a free haircut with perm, color or extension services.

Also, I like buying my hair products at the salon versus a beauty supply store or regular store. A good brand selection (no more than 6 brands or it becomes too overwhelming).

    Hope this helps.
I would like drink to be givin if u dnt already...like a bartender except...not just alcohol becuz there are alot of highly recommended salons that provide drinks and music becuz ppl would like to listen to music instead of jus sitting quietly if they arent already talking to their stylist but i think thats about all becuz once you have the basic there doesnt have to be to much added its not like the customer is there for days at a time but i dnt kno about any offers other than drinks
Free pot of nail polish with every manicure and pedicure.

% off voucher on hair/nail ect. products with every treatment.

Loyalty cards, after ... many treatments you get one free or half price.

How can I enrich my haircolor in between visits to the salon. It gets faded out from the sun.?

The hairdresser uses permanent hair color. In the beginning, it's a medium reddish brown. The sun fades it to a brassy light auburn. This color washes me out, I have light olive skin. I need a richer color. How can I enrich my haircolor in between visits to the salon. It gets faded out from the sun.?
first of all, try using a sunscreen for the hair. it helps protect your color.

also, use a shampoo/conditioner made for color-treated hair. not the cheap Pantene, it has too much ammonia in it. Buy higher quality stuff. Also, you can use a semi-permanent hair dye for in between visits. It contains less chemicals, and is not too damaging for your hair.

***I would like to stress not using Pantene Pro-V. It has too much ammonia, which will actually strip your hair of its color (which is good for blondes and blondes only), and dry it out as well. Paul Mitchell has an excellent line for color-treated hair.***How can I enrich my haircolor in between visits to the salon. It gets faded out from the sun.?
Have you noticed that about two weeks after you get your hair colored or highlighted, it begins to fade? Not significantly, but just enough so that it doesn't look as vibrant or rich as it did when you first colored it. It's possible to minimize fading with the use of color enhancing products. Plant-based dyes applied to the hair's outermost layers impart a subtle color lift. When used between salon visits, they give the perfect boost to help maintain color. Here's what you should know.

Check out iVillage's tips for preserving hair color at http://beauty.ivillage.com/hair/color/0,鈥?/a>

    good luck!
try using sun screen for the hair, they usually come in spray form. I also use pantene pro-v blonde expressions. it brings out my natural highlights in the roots and helps my salon highlights stay in longer and make the two look more blended. if your not blonde, they have it for brunettes and redheads too. pantene pro-v has a really good hair sunscreen product too.

Can anyone recommend a great child oriented hair salon in the High Point- Greensboro area?

My son will be going for his first haircut today- He is just under 2 and doesn't really have a lot of hair on top but the back is starting to grow and he's trying to get tangles in the ';swirl'; area- I would really like his first cut to be fun and know that the person doing it is used to wiggly wriggly children. I would like suggestions of specific places please!

How much are you supposed to tip at a nail salon?

It costs $32 and I gave her $5. Is that too much or too little or what? How much are you supposed to tip at a nail salon?
depends if she did a totally awesome job, or a sucky oneHow much are you supposed to tip at a nail salon?
I have been a waiter for over 3 years. I have worked in upscale restaurants, as well as corporate chain ones. I earn 18% of everything I sell at the current upscale place. This is considered nice for most waiters. You tipped over 15%. I have a girlfriend who never tips when she gets hers done. I would say these people will continue to take very good care of you, in turn for your kindness. Most people don't tip waiters more than 15%, so I would say you did a very good job. 10-15% is good, if they absolutely wow you, then you can always give more. But most people who work for tips are happy with anything more than 10%.
Just do want you feel, if they did a great job, tip away. If not go lower.
id give her a little more, 10 being the highest.

  • Are a washer and a dryer required in a hair salon?

I AM OPENING A NEW HAIR SALON IN PLANTATION, FLORIDA.

I CAN'T FIND IN ANY WEB PAGE EITHER FROM THE CITY OF PLANTATION, OR FROM THE FLA. DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL REGULATIONS, ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THIS.

    PLEASE HELP!

THANK YOU!Are a washer and a dryer required in a hair salon?
Check with the city or state level health department, also the state department that handles salon licensing. I am not in the field but I am a customer who tries to be aware of what is typically needed to provide services. Since salons need to have a ready supply of clean towels, it only makes sense that they need an easy way of washing the dirty ones daily. When I think about it, every place I've had my hair cut has had one, even though they are smallish. Are a washer and a dryer required in a hair salon?
Call up the State board....But I would think you'd want one even if they're not required, What would ever happen if you ran out of clean towels? People wouldn't want their soping wet hair ontop of their head, or using dirty towels...You'd lose business that way.
In Maryland, a washer and dryer are not required. You could call your State Board and ask them.

Is it bad to use a heat dryer at a salon when coloring your hair?

my friend told me a telltale sign of a bad salon is one that uses heat dryer to spend up the coloring process, such as beauty brands. is this true?Is it bad to use a heat dryer at a salon when coloring your hair?
Not necessarily. Some color additives such as color accelerator drops require heat to activate, and the heat source should be a dryer. However, I am always leery when I see colorists use a dryer to speed up foiled highlights. While this can be done successfully, it takes special application on the stylists part to prevent the bleach or color from bleeding, which results in stripes or spots at the roots. I find heat lamps to be more predictable when processing foils (particularly when it comes to a beginner stylist), but then, it just depends on the stylist and what they have been trained to do.

Bottom line is, if you trust the stylist is experienced and you see clients leaving his/her chair with good looking haircolor, then you should trust the stylist to know which heat source will work best. Every stylist has their own way of doing things, and if the results are good, then their method is fine. However, if you are unfamiliar with the stylist, and feel uncomfortable with their practices, then it might be in your best interest to ';shop around';. The best way to find a good stylist is to ask people whose hair you like which stylist they go to.Is it bad to use a heat dryer at a salon when coloring your hair?
no actually some hair needss heatness to open up the cuticle and thus makes thr process fastser
    Nope,Heat makes it process faster.

Do you like getting your hair shampooed at the hair salon?

I'm a shampoo asistant wondering what client's like.Do you like getting your hair shampooed at the hair salon?
I love it! :) I drop by about once a month for a shampoo and blow dry, it's great and a nice way to relax. I go to different places to see what they're like, it's great when they give you a nice long massage, some places don't spend long enough or only wash it once.Do you like getting your hair shampooed at the hair salon?
    Hey,

Haha it's my favorite part. At my salon, the shampoo always seems cold so it feels so fresh and good on my scalp. Plus, I always feel like they get my hair really clean.

However, when I sit in the chair and put my head into the sink it makes my neck hurt -SO- bad. I would suggest getting padding around it or some kind of spongy thing to get rid of the pain. Haha, one time my mom got her hair done and she had neck cramps from it the next day! I always hate that part.

Also, there is this one lady who shampoos my hair like death. :P She seriously like pulls my hair so hard and I am suprised I'm not bald sometimes. That's just one lady though. I would try to be gentle and soft with the clients because people like me have a sensitive scalp!

Overall that, I still enjoy it! I like this question, haha. I never knew I had so many thoughts about getting my hair shampooed so thank you!

    -Audrinna
I LOOOOVE getting shampooed! Especially when the shampoo girl uses warm (not hot) water, and uses her fingerpads and massages my scalp really hard
Yeah I guess.....but last time I had this awful lady who was abit inexperienced, abit of water dripped down and she kept banging my head against the basin.
yup, but especially the free scalp massage at the place where I go
I feel like they don't rinse the conditioner out properly.
Yes, the place I go to gives 20 minute head massages.
i do as long as u massage my head good :)

i do however think it is stupid how salons charge extra for washing and blow drying it and do it n e ways w/ out asking, id rather the price be more and then just included ... its not the $ it just sounds stingy
    Oh i shampoo clients hair!

Its fine shampooing peoples hair, just ask them if the water you are using is the right temperature, if they are comfortable and when you massage their head that it is alright.

    Hope this helps!

Are you supposed to tip the owner of the nail salon if he does your nails?

My mother told me you don't tip the owner, but I feel strange about this. Advise? Are you supposed to tip the owner of the nail salon if he does your nails?
Yes, I tip the owner BUT only if he/she did a good job. One time I got cuts on my fingers while they were doing my nails. I got mad and I didnt tip them! Are you supposed to tip the owner of the nail salon if he does your nails?
    yes, I do tip ...
It depends on where you are. I find it weird to tip anyone but waiters/waitresses and people who deliver food, to be honest.

But even if you do tip manicurists, this is something extra on top of their pay, which is really low in comparison to what the owner makes (I know people who work in salons)! So why tip the owner, he takes out expenses/ employees salaries and everything else is his anyway. Unless it's someone you know well and you know is struggling, I think it's unfair to tip him. (May even be preceived as bad manners, implying his salon is not doing well enough for example)
tipping whoever did your nails is an act of courtesy.
You dont tip your stylist AND the owner. But if the owner did the work then yes!
yes! you tip anyone who does you a service (provided you are satisfied with the results) it doesn't matter if it is the owner or an employee if the service is good and you are happy TIP..... and the next time you may get even better service...
It is good etiquette to tip whoever does your nails, even the owner. If you didn't give a tip they may not put as much effort into your nails the next time you come in.
no! if he's doing your nails its because your paying him...you can if you want to....
I would say yes tip the owner
It is customary to tip anyone who has provided you with good service. It doesn't matter if he is the owner. If he did a good job, you tip him for his service.
No, but you can tip that person who did them, if they did a great job
no not the owner but the person that did your nails, only if you like the way they did them

    %26lt;3
I always tip no matter if it's the owner or not.
whoever does the service should be tipped as long as they deserve it...it doesnt matter if she is the owner of the shop

How much do the stylists typically make at Regis Hair Salon?

Have you worked there? How was the salary? How much do the stylists typically make at Regis Hair Salon?
minimum wage. I worked for regis and they don't pay. I've also worked for great clips and fantastic sams. So far fantastic sams pays the best and i'm still there. Great clips does offer incentives though. such as if you close or work weekends you get paid more. But company wise i prefer FS. Salary wise depends on where you live.

What is the best product to use in a tanning salon?

there are a million lotions out there and I have no idea which is best. I know I don't want anything with bronzer in it, but something like a good activator. any suggestions? thanksWhat is the best product to use in a tanning salon?
The one's they sell at the salons cost to much for what they are and don't even work very well but I just bought the Hawaiian Tropic Indoor Tanning lotion from Target and it really works! I went tanning yesterday and you can definetly tell that I'm tanner! What is the best product to use in a tanning salon?
My conscience requires me to send this to you. You know that you are increasing your chances of getting skin cancer everytime you go to the tanning salon. Plus, when you're my age (53) you're going to look 10 years older if you continue to do this. I know you are young and indestructible and nothing this horrible could happen to you. but I actually know a young man who died in his early 30s from melanoma. Please consider this. Your skin is a beautiful color just the way it is.
I love lotion with tingle in it because without it I feel like I don't get anything at all. I bought a lotion on Ebay that I bought in the tanning salon before that retailed to 50 bucks but on ebay it was half that. It's called Pyro. Watch out....it is strong but with that you do not have to tan as much.....its expensive but it's awesome!

Only once. When I was in 7th grade, my mom cut my bangs for me. She pulled them when she cut and they were waaaaay too short. So, she took me to a salon and they had to do like a ';pie'; cut to my bangs. It was awful and I just bawled and bawled. The next day at school everyone kept asking why I got such an ugly hair cut. I was mad at my mom about it.
Just last month. I wanted my hair dark brown with red and blonde highlights, she dyed it bright red with blonde highlights.

I was upset so I just paid and went home because if I would have said something then I would have caused a scene probably. After I stopped sobbing in the bathroom with a towel over my head I finally gained the courage to call and talk to the manager and explain, the manager re-did it herself and now I LOVE it....I'm to lazy to do it myself, I admit it, plus I am scared I will get it wrong and turn my hair green too!
my hair was down to my butt on graduation day of high school and I wanted it to my shoulders (well right below them) and the lady cut it off to my ears.... I was so upset... it also did not help that she styled it like an old lady
Only twice...once when the colorist burned my scalp. I had a 1/2 dollar size scab. I should've sued.

And another when I wanted a Root Perm and got a a regular perm. I looked like I was 5. Hated it.
Only once that I can remember. The stylist cut my hair in a really short unflattering way and I hated it. I cried all the way home.
almost everytime lol, thats why my hair is so long....i am deathly afraid of them now, would rather go to the dentist.....
Only once and I will never forget it. It was my fault though. She gave me what I wanted. It just wasn't what I expected.

I have blonde highlights and i want my natural color back. What's a good salon that could do that for a good price and where is it located? What's a good salon that can dye my hair back to it's natural color?
It would be easier to narrow down to where YOU live luv.

EAST COAST v WEST COAST Somewhere in between??? This way Maybe someone would be able to throw out some recommendations.

There are plenty in NYC -- if you can spend the $$

Good luckWhat's a good salon that can dye my hair back to it's natural color?
if you want all your natural color back you don't have to dye it you can just ';color strip';it

here's a link to some hair dye strippers (if you live near a Sally's beauty supply)

i recommend this because it's cheaper and it won't damage your hair as much as dyeing it

gamehouse games has unlimited free games now too..go to download games then extended play and they have one free side and one extended play side. Also IWIN has about 74 FREE games that are ad supported now and Free Ride also..I have used all of these and have never any problems with the sites. Report Abuse

GameTap also has some decent free games, mostly the type that one would find in an arcade, and as to the answer, he means games supported by advertising, which makes them free. It's rather complicated to explain why that makes them legally free, so I won't, but it does. Report Abuse

Is there any scalp treatment, such as for dandruff - maybe to exfoliate or moisturize the scalp - that you can get at a salon? Is there any scalp treatment you can get at a salon?
Believe it or not Sea Breeze (facial astringrent) is excellent ....... the salon wont tell you that though. It works thoughIs there any scalp treatment you can get at a salon?
why dont you use haed and shoulders shampoo it is like so much less expensive
You could try Nizoral or Head%26amp;Shoulders
i part apple cider vinegar, 2 parts water. it's cheap and it works. t-gel is also great
Best dandruff shampoo I have found is Nizoral. It is sold online.
I use head and shoulders. My dandruff went away but I still use it because it keeps your scalp healthy and my hair has gotten significantly more healthy
Best scalp treatment (over the counter) is T-Gel Shampoo
yes sometimes they offer hot oil scalp massage.you have to ask what would be the best treatment for your scalp get consultation.don't wash your hair with hot water it will dry your scalp.try using conditioner too.it may help with the driness.

How much do i tip at this nail salon?

I'm going to get my nails done at this place in town, and this lady charges $45 for a full set of acrylic nails. How much should I tip?

I don't want to tip too much, but I don't want her to think I'm being cheap because she does a good job.How much do i tip at this nail salon?
I do the same as when I eat out...10% for mediocre service, 15% for good service, and 20% for really good service. I usually give 20% because I like my nail tech and she does a good job.How much do i tip at this nail salon?
    I usually give my nail ladies a 5 dollar bill...they charge $35 for a full set but the lady who does it also owns the shop and lets her girls keep what they earn so I don't exactly break my neck with the tip x.x;;
$45 seems expensive, but I live in Houston so maybe salons are just cheaper here! My lady charges $25 - $30, and I tip 20%.

However, 20% of $45 is $9, and that seems like a pretty high tip. Maybe 15%?
Hi Lola...I would suggest probably 15%. Especially since the gal does a nice job.
    5 bucks is always perfect!

Does anyone know of any salons in chicago (oaklawn, oakbrook, evergreen) that cuts hair in EMO styles..thanks?

Do you always have your hair cut at the same salon?

I have been having mine cut at the same place my last 4 haircuts (I get a new cut every couple of months)... So do you stick with one or do you mix it up?Do you always have your hair cut at the same salon?
yes. i have gone to the same person for the past 19 years now.Do you always have your hair cut at the same salon?
My hairdresser of 11 years was a guy, and he was the best, when he moved salons i followed, but then he emigrated. When he left I tried someone else in the same salon, but it didn't work out, so found my new stylist in another salon on recommendation. I have been going to her now for 5 years. She knows exactly how I like it cut, although every time its a bit different.....that's annoying sometimes, but being a hairdresser myself I can chop bits off when i get home!!

    same salon, same hairdresser, everytime.
I think it's good to try a lot of different ones so then you can find who is really the best.
    Same place, same girl.

She knows me and how my hair ';works';.

I feel I can trust her and I always leave happy.
Stick with who does it right.. Being a guy is a shorter 'buzz' cut I normally stick with Great Clips because they seem to do it right the first time (but not always)
I stick with one lady at one salon. She is the only one I trust to do my hair right.
my aunt used to do my hair but now i go to a salon.

I've only been there twice though, you might as well try someplace new.
i stick wit 1.. but im a girl..so idk bout the guys.. my older bros stick to 1 too..
nope i stick to the same salon
    I go to a different one each time.. LOL. I strange %26gt;_%26lt;

What's a good salon shampoo that I should buy?

I have color-treated hair. It doesn't have to necessarily be for colored hair, but I'd prefer it. Just looking for a salon shampoo and some conditioner that makes my hair soft, silky, and smooth. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks a lot. Regular shampoos too are ok, just list the name and where to buy. What's a good salon shampoo that I should buy?
been in salon retail. matrix colorsmart is nice w/great lather and won't weigh hair down. biolage colorcare is good. redken color extend seems like is hard to get a good lather, but the hair feels nice. all depends on what type of hair you have, fine, coarse, thin, thick.....Redken allsoft shampoo and conditioner will by far of all of the above make your hair the softest and silkiest. What's a good salon shampoo that I should buy?
    ask your stylist
I have found tresemme for your specific color is a good choice. I absolutely love their products and it was recommended by my stylist as a good regular shampoo without salon product prices. Never use Pantene for sure because their products contain plastics and so you're basically coating your hair in nastiness to make it shiny, and then it gets greasy A LOT faster.
Biolage is a pretty good, salon quality shampoo. It's not very expensive either. The only shampoo I would really not recommend is Pantene. It just feels like it leaves a waxy build up, but just my opinion. One of the cheaper shampoos that works well is Garnier Fructise.
Actually, salon products are better for hair, especially those for color-treated hair. Anything that has the word ';water'; or ';aqua'; as the first ingredient is probably bad. Shampoos like Aussie, Pantene, and Thermasilk build up in hair over time and can damage your roots. You're thinking smart to buy salon products. I would reccomend that you be the only one to use them though. I buy mine and don't share (selfish, eh?) but i can make a regular sized bottle last up to three months if i shampoo every other day.

If you have color treated hair, i would reccomend Biolage, and to make your color last longer, try not to wash every day. Also, don't use many styling products unless you have to.

If the color treatment damaged your hair, try catwalk oatmeal and honey treatment.

If you must buy store-bought, John Freida has a WONDERFUL collection for colored hair, brilliant brunette, radiant red, and sheer blonde, depending on what color it is.

    Hope this helps..

and remember, there's a REASON these salon products are so expensive, they work.

    -ashley,

    stylist.
Redken and it doesnt contain any alcohol so it will be better for your hair (making it smooth and silky) PLUS will protect your color.. they even have a ';color extend'; for ppl who color their hair to keep the color fresh. it's like 9.50 a bottle and you dont have to use but just a lil ';dab'; anyway.
I have spent thousands of dollars on Salon shampoos and conditioners, to learn over the years, that there is no difference. I have fallen in love with Pantene Pro-V for Dyed and Color treated hair. It's about 5-8 dollars depending on where you buy it. I love it! =)
Sebastion in the white bottle with purple for color, and joico colored hair conditioner are best. Once a week, deep condition with that stuff that comes in boxed hair dye, the 6 week stuff, not the use it all in one day stuff (too heavy). Color seal conditioner is good if you want highlights to stand out.
Have you tried dog shampoo? My poodle loves it.

  • Should I wash my hair before I go to the salon?

I work construction and tomorrow we are taking down dry wall, a lot of stuff gets in my hair and I should be done at 3 tomorrow and have an appointment at 6 tomorrow. I dont know if washing my hair and leaving it wet (or even drying it) would be bad for it, cause I dont know if its better to be dirty or clean. Thanks for your help!Should I wash my hair before I go to the salon?
If you're going in for a color, do NOT wash it after work. Just RINSE it in water as soon as you get home to try to get the debris out of it. This will allow it time to dry before your color service. When you do this, do NOT rub briskly against your scalp, as the whole point is you want your own natural scalp's oils as a protectant for your head against the harsh chemicals. This also applies to if you're getting a perm, do not wash it (but you may rinse your hair gently to remove debris if you can't stand it/it's that gross that you can't deal w/it LOL)

If you are just going in for a haircut or style, you can wash it if you want to after work. They may be washing it again before a cut or style (but this costs extra. Some places it's cheaper if they just spray your hair down for a cut, then a whole wash/cut/style) If you're just going in for a cut and/or style, and you wash it at home, it might even save you a few bucks when you tell them they don't have to wash it (unless it's included in the price!)

Sorry this is so long, but I';m a hairdresser so I just wanted to let you know so ya know! :)Should I wash my hair before I go to the salon?
well if you're getting it died than you need it as dirty as possible because the more dirty and the more product you use, the more the die will stick and stay. But if it is just for a cut, then...they wash it there so you really don't need to. if she's styling it and not washing it, than wash it the night before.
I had my hair cut a few weeks ago. I wet my hair down. Then went to get it cut. I take a shower after I get a hair cut. I can not stand left over hair that left over, That on my shoulders and my back. It itches lol

You have plenty of time to wash your hair. Some salons wash your hair before they cut your hair. They may charge more for that.
well, are you getting your hair washed at the salon before you get it cut? if you are, i would say no. just be sure to brush out all of the stuff.

if you aren't getting your hair washed at the salon, then yeah, you should probably go ahead and wash it.
At most good hair salons they will wash your hair before they cut it unless you ask them otherwise. If i were you i would just wash out the stuff in your hair then just let it air dry till 6, then theyll do what they want with it
it depends on if you get it washed there.

if you don't, I would wash it before I go.

if you do, you can still wash it. it won't really hurt your hair.
It depends on what you're getting done. Although, most of the time, having them wash it is easiest. Your hair is easier to cut wet and if they're going to style it they can work from scratch.
    i believe you shouldn't.

if you feel the need to, you can.

but the hair dresser can make sure to get everything out.
usually they'll wash your hair i believe

Could I be allergic to the sanitizer at the tanning salon?

Firstly, don't answer this question with ';This is why you shouldn't go tanning'; or ';tanning is bad'; or anything along those lines.

Whenever I go tanning it seems like right where my shoulder blades touch the acrylic always get itchy afterwards. Am I allergic to the sanitizer? Does the acrylic get hotter and it's burning me? Why does it only happen where my shoulder blades touch the acrylic?Could I be allergic to the sanitizer at the tanning salon?
No offense, but i'm just not comfortable with tanning salons. I can understand using them in the winter, but surely not in the summer

    time.

I Cr 13:8aCould I be allergic to the sanitizer at the tanning salon?
yes you can be allergic to it, i am as well. It doesnt alwayyys happen, usually when the bed was just cleaned within a few minutes. to avoid this i try to make sure the bed is dry as possible and use all of the allotted time before the tanning bed goes on. hope this helps. =]
Are you putting a tanning lotion on before you tan, because it could be a combination of the lotion, the temperature of the bed AND the sanitizer. Whats strange to me is why its just where your shoulder blades are, usually when I tan that bone right above my butt gets all red just from the pressure I put on it while laying down. But you are on the right track, try a different tanning place just once and see if it still happens, do the whole ';process of elimination'; thing for this issue. Good luck PYT! :)
Maybe perhaps you should try a stand up bed....Also if you feel tight or itchy on your skin you may be be burning. Try going into the bed for less time, because overexposure will create burns

No, but I usually wash my own hair before going to the salon. I prefer doing it myself because my routine is more thorough (I have thick hair). I wouldn't get embarrassed, though, because hairdressers see wet %26amp; soapy hair all day long. Are you embarrassed to get your hair shampooed in the salon?
noo. :) You get embarrassed because the stylist sees it, or other customers? haha. I love getting my hair washed. It's so relaxing, and I love to see what shampoo they use. Sometimes I don't like it, because your neck will start to hurt because of the sink. :/
No! Not at all, it is said that you should get your hair washed in a salon twice a month. I do it all the time. If you need a good salon try Lawrence Roth Salon and Day Sap. I love it there, it's like famiy. Hope this helps! ;)
Don't be silly! Besides that is the best part of your trip to a salon. A shampoo is so relaxing and feels superb. Trust me, no one in that salon gives a **** about you with soapy wet hair.

I am getting my hair dyed today and Idk whether to wash my hair or not.

Should I?Should I wash my hair before I go to the salon?
Don't wash it. The dye will take more affect if you don't, that's because your natural hair oils will help penetrate the hair more (with color). They will wash your hair after the color. So don't worry about it!Should I wash my hair before I go to the salon?
No, No, No.My sister is a hair instructor in Paul Mitchell and she said that it is not good to wash you hair before you dye it, it has something to do with the oils in your hair or something. You can still dye it after you wash it but you wont get the same result. If I were you I wont take the chance, just wait and if in the salon they think you need it was they would do it for you. : )
nope the the natural oils of hair will be better if you don't wash it and the hair dye will come out nicer. they will wash it for you after the dye process. no need to wash it before.
no, just comb it, and ask for a wash when you get there, they do a great job, and it will save water! =]

Should i let my nephew go to the beauty salon and get his hair and nails done like a girl?

Should i allow him to do this as part of his halloween costume? What is a very feminine color he could wear to be more like a girl for halloween thisyear. Also he wants to wear his halloween costume to school since his school does allow the students to wear their halloween costumes to school on the day of halloween and the day before halloween. He does have a few pair of high heel sandals he likes to wear alot. He has classic length hair which is very long for a boy. I have long hair but not even close to my 15 year old nephews hair length.Should i let my nephew go to the beauty salon and get his hair and nails done like a girl?
Long hair is fine on a guy. It's even trendy. But to answer your question, I say no. There is a fine line between Halloween costumes and dressing up as the opposite sex. I don't know your nephew. He could intend this as a prank against some school policy, or he could have issues with his sexuality. The real issue is how he will be treated at school and by his peers. This could lead to a misunderstanding and in an extreme case, a physical altercation with those who are intolerant of crossdressing. My advice: No costume at all. There's no need to celebrate Halloween at all.Should i let my nephew go to the beauty salon and get his hair and nails done like a girl?
Of course you should allow it! If he wants to do it then he should be allowed to.
im all for a fun halloween costume, but i hope your nephew knows that higschool children are mean!

they will not react so well to his choice of costume, i'm sure..

    but anyway...

I wouldnt bring him to a beauty salon, you can do it all at home...it's not that hard..

and of course PINK is a girly color.
If he is willing to put up with the razzing, sure, why not.
Of course you should let him, I think that he should be allowed to do anything that isn't extreme and trust me that is not extreme, it's not he's asking to get a tattoo
and after the jocks finish kicking his butt you can accompany him to the emergency room.

I would do the best haircut you can, if it's an interview. :]I have to do a models hair for a salon interview, what style should I do?
They will be looking not only for your techniques but from the beginning to end a personal, professional consultation, eye contact, listening skills, focus towards how you will be treating clients in the future. They will look at how you present yourself and your professionalism. It is not always what you do but how you do it. keep it simple, have a consult with your model as an everyday client. In a daily environment you do not know what a client wants until you speak with her and this test is no exception. Do your consult in the chair before you wash, just like you normally would, have fun and you will be fine on Monday.

How much does a relaxer cost in a professional salon?

Hi, I am getting my hair done so I was browsing through all of the hair questions. I found one that asked if a relaxer straightens your hair, and people said yes. I need my hair like that, so how much does it cost? Thanks.:]]]]How much does a relaxer cost in a professional salon?
Relaxers cost about $100 - $200 depending on the salon.

Your curls or waves will be less tight.

Commonly chosen by people with unruly curls who want their curls to be more manageable.

To straighten your hair, you`d need to have it chemically straightened (japanese straightening) which can cost $200 to $700 depending on the salon. This procedure involves the use of a flat iron between chemical applications to straightening the hair permanently. Looks very nice, bone straight.

Make sure you pick the right procedure! These chemical treatments are the most damaging, (along with perms) than any other chemical service. So there is no turning back or re-do`s. You`ll have to grow out your hair completely before you can try something else.

  • I am a salon owner and I am wondering if there is a list of tax deductions out there specific to my industry?

The salon is an LLC yet it is just me that is the owner. Therefore, I believe I would have to file a 1040 as a self-employed individual. All the stylists booth rent so I have no employees, I lease the space my salon is in, and of course I have overhead such as retail products and supplies.I am a salon owner and I am wondering if there is a list of tax deductions out there specific to my industry?
My suggestion is to contact your local assocation for your industry and find an accountant who works with salons

Good Luck!I am a salon owner and I am wondering if there is a list of tax deductions out there specific to my industry?
Self employment taxes are really quite easy. You must make sure you have every receipt spent for your store, this includes pens, pencils, writing paper, you have an idea of what I mean. Taxactonline.com can help you with your needs. Its free, secure and safe. All questions you have will be on this site. It has a list for everything that a business owner uses or needs. Just fill in the blanks with rounded off numbers. Make sure you have all your totals before starting your taxes. Round numbers like this: .49 goes to the lower dollar/ .50 goes to the higher dollar. Its free and very helpful and retains your records year to year. You efile directly to the IRS so no need to mail anything. Good luck and happy tax season.
an accountant can handle this easily,I own a business as well,no employees etc and I have to file the profit/loss as well as 1040 etc.It can get confusing fast and cost you alot of money if not done right, seriously, find an accountant and let them file your taxes.

it depends on the salon and the level of experience of the stylist..
