Are you suppose to tip the owner of a salon?

Everytime I get my hair done, it's the owner of the salon that does it. Well, I've always tipped her, but my friend goes to her as well and she said that you're not suppose to tip the owner because they make all the money anyway. So, my question is, do you tip the owner or not?Are you suppose to tip the owner of a salon?

well if she treats ure hair well,tip her,otherwise no,because it would be wrong for her to accept it.
That is up to you , if she does a good job and you appreciate it, go ahead and do it. .

By law the owner is claiming his/her ';Total'; income, Period. He/She is generally still working as hard and even more than the staff. Consider what other responsibilities this person is doing behind the scenes as well. So as a considerate customer that has a genuine heart. Than yes, if the hairdresser has given you work and generosity that deserves a little extra thank you, then yes. If it is not necessarily anything that moves you to tip, than don't tip as a way to communicate that. But, just be fare and honest. As the false conversation of not tipping a owner was started by a client, not the owner. No hairdresser that works the too sh off owner or not, would suggest no gratuity for a amount of time of hard work.

If the owner is cutting hair then you should tip her. She has all the expenses of the salon to pay for. Usually she doe's not always get payed until all the other bills are payed for first, and if it is a slow month or week her workers will make more than her. Don't assume an owner of a business is making ton of money or any money at all. Many business' fail after 1 year because this is what they assumed when they got into bus in the first place only to find out all the bills and taxes and payroll that comes first. Beauty salon owners are there because they love what they do more than the money, so be generous and tip.
im a hairdresser and the owner should not execpt tips he she makes comision of their employees and for them to except tips is greedy. my boss does this too and it makes me sick i some times do pay roll i make about 60-70 thiusand dollars a year he makes 250 thousand dollars a year. we get tipped because we dont get full profit only a small pecentage usually about 40% they get 150 percent profit.
